Afsan Chowdhury,Political Analyst :
I think road transport is the largest sector for investing black money. The transport service providers have a political role. They are needed for waging a movement. That is why none will try to stop them. The transport owners-workers can control the whole road transport sector. Therefore, the government turns a blind eye to them. How the government will stop the anarchy in the transport sector? Our road transport sector is now in disarray. The government does not seem to check them.
The country’s transport sector has pro
duced many big businesspersons and they will stop at nothing.
According to the WHO, hundreds of people die in road accidents in Bangladesh. We tend to say that hundreds of people are killed in the road crashes. However, we are unmindful of the fact that many people are also injured in the road mishaps.
A family is quickly rendered pauper by a road accident. All on a sudden, a person becomes jobless. We only concentrate on the accidents happening in the capital. But the accidents occurring outside Dhaka escape our attention.
Road transport system will not improve in Bangladesh. The whole administrative system will improve with the improvement of road transport system.
