DOT Desk: Rangamati Hill District Council and Rangamati district administration is set to jointly welcome five members of Bangladesh women’s football team, who won the Saff Championship in Nepal.
The five champions are- Ritu Porna Chakma, Rupna Chakma, Monika Chakma, Anai Mogini and Anuching Mogini.
Aung Sui Pru Chowdhury, chairman of the council, said that the reception will be held at Ching Hla Mong Mari Stadium on September 29 .In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Mohamamd Mizanur Rahman said as part of the reception program, a motor rally and a car rally will be held in the district town to receive the tigresses. They will be brought to the stadium by an open jeep.
On September 24, the Bangladesh Army announced a reward of Tk1 crore for the Bangladesh women’s football team.
Bangladesh women’s football team became the undefeated champion in the Saff Championship. They scored a total of 23 goals in the premier football tournament in South Asia, while conceding only one goal.
Bangladesh won the title by defeating hosts Nepal 3-1 at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.
Affer returning home, the Bangladesh team was given a royal welcome. They were taken to the Bangladesh Football Federation from the airport on an open-deck bus.
Along the way to the federation headquarters, thousands of supporters congratulated the team on their first Saff title win.
