Rampal Power Plant’s coal ash emission will greatly hurt the marine lives and animals in the area. Even further mutating inferior reproduction organs of these natural lives. As well, having long term effect on the nearby residents. Also, this area is highly prone to 7.4 meters high floods and tornadoes. That can easily break the preventive barriers between the plant ponds and Sundarbans. Anyhow washed up coal particles can destroy the Mangrove forest’s and Bay of Bengal’s ecosystems.
Such analysis reports were present via a video conference with American Researcher Prof. A Denis Lameli. At the opening of discussion event ‘Solution for Endangered Environmental Pollution from Rampal Thermoelectricity Project’s Coal Ash Removal Deficiency’. His estimation shows Rampal Project will cost Bangladesh over 100 million dollars’ worth environmental and public resources damages.
The event was hosted by Protect Sundarban national committee’s Speaker Sultana Kamal. Also, DU Professors Abul Basar, Badrul Imam (Geology) and Abdul Aziz, Anwar Hossain from Agriculture University, Water Keeper Manager Sarif Jami and many prominent others, joined in the discussion seminar.
