Massive surge of development hits Parbatya Chattogram: Hasina

” Parbatya Chattogram was once a conflict prone area. After coming to power in 1996, we solved the problems of hill tracts through a peace treaty. One thousand eight hundred armed men surrendered then. Now electricity has reached and lightened the then darkness. The area is now witnessing massive Surge of development. Due to the use of solar power, economy of this area is gained momentum”, said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina while inaugurating six projects including installation of solar panels in the remote areas of Parbatya Chattogram, five new ships, one mobile research vessel and four-tier national data centre.
He inaugurated the projects through video conferencing from Ganabhaban yesterday.
The Prime Minister said that electricity can not be provided through grid lines in Parbatya Chattogram. So we are working on illuminating the darkness through installing solar panel. Not only Parbatya Chattogram, no house in Bangladesh will remain in darkness. No one will go to sleep early from now on as darkness to be illuminated, therefore work speed and free time will be increased, she added.
While inaugurating the development schemes, the premier said, “I feel happy with the opening of four development projects.”
The projects will help for the overall socioeconomic development of the people particularly the locals.
The projects are: installation of solar panels in the remote areas of the Parbatya Chattogram to distribute power (1st amendment), five new ships of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, one mobile research vessel built in Kaptai Lake in Rangamati at the initiative of Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and the world’s 7th largest four-tier national data centre at Bangabandhu High-Tech City in Gazipur district.
