Even the incumbent government is not satisfied with the Election Commission. Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader told the EC to speak carefully.
Recently, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) said that the commission cannot guarantee irregularity-free national elections. Such kind of comment from the CEC is very disgraceful and undesirable. The Election Commission should take a firm stand to ensure a free, fair and participatory election.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already outlined a framework of the next polls-time government. Sheikh Hasina herself will lead it. The polls-time government will be small and include representatives from the opposition party. Sheikh Hasina came up with a proposal in 2014, which can be taken into consideration. The functionaries of the polls-time government will restrict their activities to routine work only.
In fact, a competitive and inclusive election is desirable. As the government is not for caretaker government, the parliament should be dissolved. I think the parliament will be dissolved.
