The role of the prime minister’s catalyst to rescue the Chhatra League from endangered situation is realistic. But giving the power of forming the Chhatra League committee or selecting leader by Sheikh Hasina is primarily not democratic. Because the Chhatra League as an institution was established two years before the Awami League, on 4th January in 1948. So the Chhatra League is older than Awami League as an institution. Recently, we have seen the crisis in this institution that there were no student-like activities, for which its image has also been tarenished. They have also faded big achievements of Awami League. In this context, the 29th BCL council was held. This clearly tells that the quality of the leaders could not have been ensured if Chhatra League would have done the election by themselves. From that point of view, the counselors’ role is realistic. And the election will be held under the supervision of the Prime Minister, even though it is not democratic. It is realistic because in these times if the Chhatra League continues their delinquency, it will be harmful for Awami League also. Chhatra League might get a fair committee and leaders through proper decisions. And we want to hope that such a thing happens.
