Nazmul Islam: My first thought on budget is that the government expenditure on public administration is increasing as more people are being recruited which is inconsistent and opposes public interest. I believe that the private sector requires more development than that of the employment sector.
Salary and allowance in the private sector are not as much as what government officials receive. Parity is not practiced here.
A budget in such a situation will develop discrimination which is not expected. We expect a budget of equality in both sectors.
Economist and energy expert Prof. Dr. Shamsul Alam came up with these insights in an recent interview. The government is misusing the tax collected from the commons and creating 18-20 million spe cial beneficiaries–an act that is equivalent to deceiving the public. The government officials and employees are corrupt. They rather oppress people than to serve them.
Salary, allowances and benefits of the public servants are generated from the taxes of the masses. But their behavioral problems are increasing day by day, resulting in more suffering of the people, he added.
The poor are yet to receive the protection they were supposed to get. They are supposed to receive funds such as government pensions, but this is yet to be in their propositions. I will do what I can to have this implemented in the coming budget. Hard-earned money of the people is being embezzled with the collapse of the stock market. This sector needs special attention in order to change the situation.
