Dr. Syed Anwar Husain, Professor, BUP : Those who are engaging in sabotage, even after the prime minister’s notice, are also engaging in anti-government activities. A bureaucratic committee is working to reform the quota system under the highest direction of the PM. This is a time-consuming task though there are chances of summarizing the time if there is sincerity.
The quota reform protesters have the democratic right to seek for answers through a press conference about how long the process would take. Besides, the government should inform how long the process to issue a quota reform notification would take. This would lessen the uncertainty among the protesters.
While the prime minister came up with affirmation of fulfilling the demands raised at their movement, such actions of the so called BCL members make me question their validity. They do not possess any right break riot on the protesters even if they truly are BCL members. Both the Dhaka University and Dhaka College authorities need to look into it since their names have been brought up in such a scale.
We have the national polls coming up. BCL has a record of affecting AL’s reputation which makes me question their loyalty toward the government. Besides, it does not have a committee which needs to be formed by the premier herself. It is not possible for an organization with no committee to pose any positive or negative activity.
