Uncertainty loomed large over receiving lifetime award from the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as eminent actor, director, and screen-playwright ATM Shamsuzzaman was hospitalized again after recovery.
On November, the senior actor was admitted to hospital after falling sick. The actor will remain present as the National Film Award scheduled to be held today (Dec 8).
Every year Bangladesh government accords National Film Award for contributing to the film industry. As a continuation, Salma Begum Sujata and ATM Shamsuzzaman are going to receive lifetime awards jointly.
ATM Shamsuzzaman’s wife Runy Zaman yesterday Channel i online that her husband’s health condition was well.
The eminent actor is very much excited to receive the award, said Runy zaman.
ATM Shamsuzzaman began his career as a comedian and he also wrote over 100 stories, and film scripts.
The actor was born on September 10, 1941 in Noakhali.
He was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2015 while he won Bangladesh National Film Awards five times for his roles in “Dayee Ke?” (1987), “Madam Fuli” (1999), “Churiwala” (2001), “Mon Bosena Porar Table E” (2009) and “Chorabali” (2012).
His movie career started in 1961 as the Assistant Director in “Bishkonna” while he first gained popularity as an actor through Amzad Hossain’s “Noyonmoni” (1976).
