Dhallywood artistes from 18 organizations formed a human chain in front of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) around midday yesterday protesting the desecration of road safety activist and once famous actor Ilias Kanchan’s effigy and posters by transport workers that went viral on social media recetly, reports Dhaka Tribune.
It also triggered outrage among the general public.
Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association General Secretary Zayed Khan said: “We have protested against the humiliation of actor, director and producer Ilias Kanchan.”
“We demand full implementation of the Road Transport Act 2018.”
Artistes will organize more programs if required, Zayed Khan added.
Ilias Kanchan lost his wife in a tragic road accident in 1993. Since then, he has pledged to be a road safety activist for life. He is also the founder of the social movement for road safety awareness titled Nirapad Sharak Chai.
