A bold robbery took place at a Bikash store in Chitalmari upazilla sadar bazaar. The robbers allegedly stole cigarettes and Tk 6 lacs in cash. The robbery occurred on the early hours of Friday.
On receiving information, police and upazila parishad panel chairman Rashel Pukul went to observe the site.
The owner of the store Bikash Chandra Bala claimed that he and his employees went home after closing shop at 11pm Thursday. On Friday morning they came to discover that thieves had broken into the shop by breaking the walls and had stolen cash worth Tk 280,000 as well as 60 cartons of Benson and Goldleaf cigarettes worth over Tk 600,000. Chitalmari Station Officer-in-Charge Anukul Sarkar has informed us that investigations are still underway.
