30,000 protest against violence against women in Tel Aviv

Over 30,000 people participated protest against domestic violence and violence against women at the Rabin Square in Tel Aviv, in central Israel, yesterday evening.
Roads were closed as thousands came out in highlight the deaths of 24 women who were killed this year by either a partner, family member, or friend.
A 24-minute silence was held in memory of the victims.
Speeches were held in Arabic and Hebrew and participants carried red balloons.
Demonstrators chanted “Women’s blood would not be forgotten” and “shame” as they marched.
“Today we made history. Today the silence surrounding the violence against women has turned in to screams.”
Protest were called last week in the wake of the murders of two teenage girls.
