Have you ever wanted to make a great first impression on someone but don’t exactly know how? There are time when you just want someone to like you. Noe there’s noting about being underhand in wanting this sort of thing, there’s no secret or subterfuge involved either, it’s plain and simple science. Science I simple….right? Here’s a few tips to get you ahead in the game:
1. Copy Them: This is the mirroring strategy. Copy how a person acts or talks; don’t get weird about it, do it in subtle ways. People are to some extent narcissistic and enjoy seeing similar characteristics in other people. This will make a favorable impression on anyone. Hopefully!
2. Compliment them: People associate the comments you use on others as a reflection of your personality. Now no ones telling you to empty the butter factory, keep it civilized! But yea, giving complements and being cordial is in general a good habit, stay away from backbiting, it’s BAD!!
3. Smile: Don’t go Joker crazy but smile, be gracious. A smile projects an image of positivity and spreads the same emotion around the people you mingle with. Its a general mood booster. You smile and the world shall smile with you. Creepy!
4. Freindszone: Nopes this isn’t what you might be thinking. Basically to create a good impression on a certain person you should make friends with that persons circle. If they give good feedback and are jovial with you, the person you are trying to impress will follow suit eventually if not sooner.
5. Reveal Flaws: We are all human and we all make mistakes at some point in our lives, we may even have some idiosyncratic behavior which others might not like. But hey that’s life. Don’t feel shy to reveal your flaws from time to time, it makes you more approachable and human. And who knows your person of interest might have the same flaw too or be able to help you in some way about it.
Now in ending, I would like to say that it’s not imperative that someone MUST like you or you HAVE to impress someone in a particular way. Your behavior and personality and wit should be enough to convince someone in your favor.
