Medical board to be formed for Khaleda: Asaduzzaman

    Sayeed Muhammad: After several BNP leaders insisted, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said a medical board will be formed to check-up on Khaleda Zia.
    “Her (Khaleda) health is regularly checked in prison. Even such, we will form a medical board to end the plea of BNP,” Kamal told the press after BNP leaders met him at his office in Dhaka yesterday, reports The Daily Star.
    Responding to a query, the home minister said the medical board will be formed immediately, without detailing when it will be done.
    A 10-member delegation of BNP led by its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir called upon the home boss at his office to discuss Khaleda’s illness around 3:00pm.
    The BNP delegation pleaded to move Khaleda Zia to United Hospital immediately.
    “We requested the minister to take our leader to a specialised hospital. She (Khaleda) wants to be treated at the United Hospital; and we requested as such,” Fakhrul told reporters after the meeting.
    Asaduzzaman, , Fakhrul said, assured the BNP leaders of taking steps to this end after talking to secretary of the respective ministry, prison authority and other officials.
    In his reply to a query, the BNP leader said the home minister did not mention any date when he would take the step, but said that he would hold a meeting in this regard soon.
