Traffic Week: Legal action against nearly 60,000 offenders

    UNB: Police has taken legal action against 58, 549 vehicles and collected fines amounting to around Tk 1.91 crore in separate special drives against traffic rules violators across the country in the three days since special Traffic Week began Sunday .
    Besides, legal action was also taken against 15,389 drivers for various charges including violation of traffic rules during the period, said Police Headquarters’ AIG (Media) Sohel Rana.
    Besides, 1870 vehicles were detained as part of legal action during the 3-day drive, which will continue till August 11.
    The Special Traffic Week began across the country from Sunday to reinforce discipline on roads and highways amid the growing student movement over a nine-point demand, mainly for Road Safety.
    During the special Traffic Week, legal steps have been taken against unfit vehicles, drivers without licenses and violation of traffic rules and against pedestrians who do not follow traffic rules.
