Panic spread after crude bombs were exploded at six different places in Jashore town early yesterday, allegedly targeting the residence of a local lawmaker and establishments belonging to Awami League leaders, reported The Daily Star.
Although no casualties were reported immediately, the series of blasts triggered panic among the Awami League leaders and activists, according to police.
Law enforcement authorities collected the samples and evidences from the scene, said Apurba Hasan, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.
Criminals exploded crude bombs targeting the residence of ruling Awami League lawmaker from Jashore-3 Nabil Ahmed around 3:00am, the OC said.
The spate of bomb attacks followed at Hotel Jabir International, a five-star hotel facility, and Chaklader Filling Station belonging to Jashore unit AL’s General Secretary Shahin Chaklader, according to the police official.
The blasts also targeted residences of Tauhid Chaklader, a cousin of Shahin, Imam Hasan Lal, acting general secretary of Jashore town unit AL and Jubo League leader Rajibul Alam.
Shafiqul Islam Jewel, a local Jubo League leader, alleges that ‘terrorists’ might have carried out the attacks in order to create fear among the people.
Moinuddin Mithu, organizing secretary of Jashore district unit Jubo League, added that criminals also hurled crude bombs at the residences of two local AL and Jubo League leaders on the night of January 25.
