A Bangladesh national was shot to death allegedly by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Dharmagar border in Ranishankoil upazila of Thakurgaon early yesterday, reports The Daily Star.Deceased Jahangir Alam Raju, 21, was son of Badsha Mia of Shahanabadh village in Ranishankoil upazila of Thakurgaon.
Quoting locals, Lt Col Tuhin Mohammad Masud, commanding officer of Thakurgaon camp of BGB battalion-50, told our local correspondent that Raju along with other cattle traders entered Indian territory through the Dharmagar border around 4:00am.
BSF troops of Sreepur camp in West Bengal’s Uttar Dinajpur opened fire when the cattle traders crossed the border near pillar no. 372/2-s, Lt Col Tuhin quoting locals said.
Raju died on the spot as he came in the line of fire while others managed to flee, the BGB official said.
Lt Col Tuhin added, “We have already contacted with the BSF officials and protested the incident and asked them to return the body through a flag meeting”.
