AL made proper pledges including that for urbanization of rural areas

Dr. Tofail Ahmed speaks to DOT : 
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the Awami League president, unveiled the election manifesto of the party for the upcoming national elections slated for December 30. The ruling party promised availability of city amenities in every village of the country in its election manifesto unveiled yesterdsay.
If voted to power, the party will undertake programmes to upgrade villages to cities. Electricity will reach every household, and all the villages will be connected to the district and upazila towns via concrete roads, she said. Mills and factories will be built in every district and upazilas to create employment and internet and information technology will reach everywhere, she said.
In this regard, Dr. Tofail Ahmed, Local Governance Specialist said that the Awami League has taken a right step including this pledge for urbanization of rural areas. The process of urbanization of rural areas is obvious because people living in rural areas are already living urban life. Villages are no more rural villages. Urbanization is an inherent social process. Now, Awami Leagues if comes to power shall have to develop an urban plan settlement and a land use plan for implementing this urbanization process.
