Nahian Arefin: Almost 150 Muslims protested in Mumbai, India yesterday, demanding an end to the detention of thousands of minority Uighur Muslims in camps of China and political indoctrination center in its Xinjiang territory.
The protestors chanted “Down with China” during the protest held outside a mosque after Jumma prayers (Friday noon prayer), reports AFP.
Mohammed Saeed Nori, who is an organizer of the protest, accused China of apprehending the Muslims in camps and snatching their religious freedom.
China wanted to assimilate the minority group into the Chinese mainstream and in doing so, it restricted the instructions of Islam and the Uighur language.
Mentionable, China kept on denying the news of operating the camps and taking necessary steps to fight terrorism, religious extremism and separatism.
