M Humayun Kabir: Turning down BNP’s allegation of arresting its leaders and activists arbitrarily, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan yesterday said members of law enforcement agencies do not arrest any innocent person. He made the remarks while replying to a query from reporters after addressing the triennial conference of Bangladesh Chhatra Jubo Oikya Parishad at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium in the city, reports UNB.
The Oikya Parishad is a wing of Bangladesh Hindu-Buddha-Christian Oikya Parishad.
The Home Minister urged BNP to prove it that its arrested leaders and activists are not offenders.
“We have evidence of where they do what. Even we’ve got video footage in this regard,” he said.
Law enforcers are looking into the case filed against Mozammel Haque Chowdhury, secretary general of Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity (BJKS), a passengers’ welfare platform, Kamal said replying to another question.
“There’s nothing to be worried. He won’t face any problem if his involvement is not found during investigation,” Asaduzzaman added.
Earlier, addressing the function, the Home Minister said religion is for individual but the state is for all.
No one can thwart development of Bangladesh, which has been built on a non-communal spirit, he said.
