Raj Abrar: BNP have announced various programs to celebrate its 40th founding anniversary on September 1, including a public rally, discussion, hoisting party flag, placing wreaths at the grave of party founder Ziaur Rahman.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the announcement yesterday after a joint meeting of the party and its associate bodies at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office with its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in the chair.
As per the founding anniversary programs, the party flag will be hoisted atop its Nayapaltan central office and all other offices of BNP across the country at 6am on September 1, reports UNB.
On 11am that day, the party leaders and activists will place wreaths and offer fateha at the grave of its founder, ex-President Ziaur Rahman. The party will then hold a rally at 3pm at either Suhrawardy Udyan or in front of BNP office, subject to permission by the authorities concerned.
BNP will also arrange a discussion at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh the following day.
On September 1, 1978, Ziaur Rahman formed BNP with a 19-point program to build a self-reliant Bangladesh.
