Kabir Humayun: A suspected robber was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police personnel in Ongkurpur area of Baliakandi upazila in the district on Sunday.
Deceased Badu Sheikh, 40, hailing from Gobinadapur village was an accused in seven robbery cases, reports UNB.
Hasina Begum, officer-in-charge of Baliakandi Police Station, said a team of police conducted a drive in the area under Jangal union as a gang of robbers was taking preparation for committing robbery.
When the team reached the spot, the gang members opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight which left Badu dead on the spot, she added.
Police also recovered some arms from the spot.
