Probe-body formed over Khagrachhari killings

    Kabir Humayun: A five-member probe body was formed to look into Saturday’s killings of seven UPDF members in Khagrachhari district.
    District magistrate M Shahidul Islam formed the five-member body on Saturday night with additional district magistrate Md Abu Yusuf with its convener, reports The Daily Observer.
    Sadar UNO Shamsul Tabrij was made committee’s member secretary.
    The other members include additional superintendent of Khagrachhari M Salahuddin, Sadar Hospital RMO Dr Nayanmoy Tripura and Fire Service Civil Defence deputy director Jasim Uddin.
    The committee was asked to submit its report within 15 working days.
    Meanwhile, the joint forces of police, army and BGB have started a drive to arrest the perpetrators.
    No case was filed yet in connection with the killings, said Khagrachhari sadar police OC Shahadat Hossain.
    Seven people were gunned down and three others injured in a gunfight between two factions of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) at Swanirbhar in Sadar upazila of Khagrachhari on Saturday morning.
