Abrar Hussain: Assailants, reportedly in coordinated attacks, have burnt down at least twelve schools for boys and girls in the country’s north before fleeing, alleged a Pakistani police officer as well as residents.
Local police officer Mohammad Bashir says the attacks on schools took place before dawn yesterday near the northern town of Chilas, but as the schools were closed, there were no casualties.
However, no group has come forward and claimed responsibility for setting fire to schools in various villages near but previous such incidents have been blamed on local militants.Chilas police chief Ajmal Khan claimed that officers have opened investigations to determine who was behind the incident, which has spread panic among residents there.¬-Source: The New York Times
