Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has taken estimated 956 crores taka project for the navigability development through Chadpur-Mawa- Goalanda naval channel. In order to, transport heavy materials from Mongla Port to Pakshi more efficiently, informed BIWTA Project Director Engr. Md. Saidur Rahman. BIWTA also has made deals with Bangladesh Navy. Project is estimated to be finished by 2025. Minister of Shipping Shahjahan Khan will be inaugurating dredging-work of the project, on 5 November. 3.50 crores cubic meters of dredging work, 93.10 lacs cubic meters digging for development purposes and 257 lacs cubic meters digging for protection, will be conducted along the 450km waterways of Padma, Ganga, Kocha, Shorupkathi, Amtoli & Arial-Kha rivers. Also, about 200 markers will be constructed as well.
