The English Premier League has been dubbed as one of the most competitive football leagues in the world. And rightly so too. It would be surreal to think that one day a football team that has been so incredibly low profile would be on its way to win the Premiere League. And yet here we are, standing around in the ashes of the teams that Leicester has managed to obliterate as some with argue, with sheer willpower along with the talent of their players.
The club is on its way to win the league and the only time they came so close to tasting victory was when they finished second in Division One back in the 1928-29 season. The team had just emerged to the Premier League after year of playing the second and third division of English football. Leicester City were underdogs even as this current season started, but we all watched in awe as they tore world class defenses apart to score surreal goals and before we even realized it, there we were, rooting for the underdogs as well.
The appointment of Claudio Raneiri was a pivotal point in the emergence of Leicester City as heroes in the league. No matter how much sheer passion you have for the game, it is impossible to reach the heights that the underdogs have hit without tactical brilliance. And that’s what Raneiri brings to the table. While players such as James Vardy , Riyad Mahrez and Shinji Okazaki obviously possess talents of enormous magnitude, a manager with immense strategic capabilities is essential for the sudden emergence of a club such as this and Claudio Raneiri has made sure that he utilized the best of what he had.
On top of that, you would only need to see a few games to see the passion that the Leicester City players bring onto the field. Driven by the support of their loyal fans, they have achieved the impossible. Vardy and Mahrez have been instrumental in breaking down defenses and ripping holes in the midfield that have ultimately helped their team steal wins one time too many.
Now as the Premier League draws to an end, Leicester seems to be the likely victors to emerge from the league. This all must seem like a fairytale to the fans at this point and very soon, the fans might realize that the fairy tale has been dubbed to reality.
